Twice we have ventured to Birmingham with the express purpose of attending the Crufts Dog Show the crowning achievement of the The Kennel Club. On our first visit we traveled to the city centre for an afternoon. At that time (2002) downtown was a maze of construction. We wandered around up and over the canal with the narrow boats moored to the side. We only had a few hours and the most I can say is that it certainly was a beehive of construction. I might return someday to do narrowboating as I've read that the Birmingham area has the largest concentration of restored canals in the UK.
