For our honeymoon, my husband and I chose to go to Cancun since we had never been before. We didn't want a hotel on the popular Cancun beaches. Then a friend suggested that we stay at the Villa Rolandi on Isla Mujeres. I had never heard of the island. It is a very small island just in front of the northern part of Cancun. It is not as "touristy" as Cancun. Isla Mujeres has kept its typical Caribbean look and has not been affected by the growth of Cancun. There is a public ferry that brings in tourists from Cancun, but after the last ferry departs for Cancun the island becomes your own private getaway. The hotel had it's own yacht to transport guests back and forth from Isla Mujeres & Cancun. Once in Cancun you could get a taxi or bus.

It was the perfect place for us after spending so much time and energy planning our wedding.
