We arrived in Salzburg in the morning. The weather was perfect, as it had been for the whole Bavarian trip so far. We walked from the train station to the old town, passing through Mirabell as the stalls were being set up for the day's sales.
On the other side of the river we encountered HUNDREDS of people milling about near Mozart's birthplace. Fortunately for us this was not our destination. On we went to the cathedral and up to the castle, where we had a nice little lunch and fantastic views. On the way back to the station, some hours later, we stopped to buy two small Sacher tortes. Heavenly!
