I was in Christchurch, New Zealand at the time, with cold and dreary weather and I thought that going north could only improve the situation. Well, it didn't do much in terms of weather, but I fell in love with this city instantly. So alive and vibrant, diverse and muliticultural. And for an Asian food lover, particularly Indonesian food, I found what I was looking for. Too bad I only had a few days here. I'd love to go back.
- Pros:Diverse diverse diverse!
- Cons:Far from the city to the outlying sights and parks and hikes
- In a nutshell:Colourful!

Well Jan, I have to admit to indulging un IKEA Swedish meatballs as well in Hamilton, Ontario. No bad in a pinch. Melbourne is sounding pretty good as winter approaches in Buffalo, NY! Thanx ...Tom

Swedish meatballs with french fries... that shuoldn't be legal for IKEA to serve that :) You will never find that in Sweden! /Daniel
Good to know that IKEA has meatballs even Down Under. I just bought a new bookshelf at a German IKEA store - and had meatballs after that.
You can't beat Melbourne's restaurants, but no loo at the Basque? Did you eat your way around Melbourne??...haha great recommendations.
You had me laughing about your IKEA tip (and made me think abot trying the one we have here... :-). Seems that you like to eat, your restaurant tips are just great! I liked Melbourne, too, but I wish I had your tips then.
