Historical Town of Western Australia

York is Western Australia's most historically rich town and is classified as an official historically important town by the Heritage Society of Australia. This small town is nested in the beautiful Avon Valley of Western Australia, just an hour's drive from Perth. Sevaral festival are held each year that attracts many tourist to this otherwise quiet town. One of them is the York Jazz Festival which I visited in 2005 (see travelogue).

Town Hall

It's opulent Victorian and Federation buildings have been carefully restored to their original glory which the town embraces with pride. The Town Hall is an example of such a building.

Avon River

The Avon River gently flow besides the town; adding a sense of peacefulness and serenity. Spring is a wonderful time to visit this little town, when the blooming of the flowers add a dash of colours and freshness.
