Beautiful sand beach with mountain views On a windy day, the surf is great. There is free parking all along the beach and a wonderful nature reserve on the etang (lake) side of the road.
It is great fun to watch the wind surfers . . . or you can join them. |
| | Look both directions . . . sand everywhere Yes, there are people too. Look one way and you have a long stretch of surf for wind surfing and look toward Canet-Plage and you have a long stretch of nice soft sand for sun bathers.
If you've ever sat on the stone beaches of the Riviera, you will know why we prefer the Cote Vermeille. The nice soft sand is perfect for beach people. There is also great sight seeing and good wine tasting within an easy drive. |
| Etang de Canet Nature Reserve |
| | Etange de Canet Nature Reserve Park along the road facing the beach. Turn around and you are facing the Etang de Canet et St. Nazaire Nature Reserve. Note the wooden bicycle racks in the front of the picture. This is great bicycling country, gorgeous views. If you follow the trail, it leads to a bird watching stand.
This is all between Canet-Plage and St. Cyprien-Plage on route D81a along the Mediterranean. Banyuls and Collioure are good day trips. |
