Please check the Travelogue for a few more photos. We saw a sign to the Spice Bread Museum in Gertwiller and were in the area so decided to visit. Unfortunately it was Friday and the museum is only open on Sunday. Perhaps during the season, it is open more often, but this was May.
Since we were already in Gertwiller, we felt it necessary to do some research on spice breads, i.e. Gingerbread! We visited all the stores we could find open and supported the local economy by purchasing as much gingerbread as we thought we could possibly eat.
As it turned out, it took us several weeks to completely finish all the gingerbread. It keeps quite well! |
| | Did you know there were this many different kinds of gingerbread? We didn't. I was like a kid in a candy shop.
This would be a wonderful place to visit over the Christmas holiday season. |

| | There is one large store at the entrace to Gertwiller and then this cute painted green store right in the center of downtown Gertwiller. They are both fun to visit . . . and have excellent gingerbread. |
