This hotel is right across the street from the Sorbonne University. It is in a very safe neighborhood and there are plenty of cafes and bookstores in the area. It is also only a couple blocks from the Cluny Museum. It is an easy walk to one RER and three Metro stations. It is a couple blocks to the Luxembourg Gardens and you can walk to Notre Dame, the Latin Quarter tourist area, the Louvre, Ste. Chapelle, the d'Orsay. The location can't be beat for the price. Desk is staffed 24 hours a day and the staff speak English. They are very helpful and pleasant. Breakfast is a bargain at only 5 euros. The rooms are small but very clean. You have a telephone and hair dryer and plenty of closet space. I had no trouble hooking up my laptop and recharging camera batteries.
Unique Qualities: You don't get a lot of amenities at this price, but you do get location, location, location. It is just half a block from the Place de la Sorbonne with busy cafes and shops and a fountain. Blvd. St. Michel is at the other end of the Place. If you get a room in the front, you can actually see into the classrooms at the Sorbonne University across the street. One desk clerk spent a goodly amount of time helping me find an adapter for my battery charger and then just loaned it to me on the honor system. They are all very pleasant. They offered to call to confirm our return flight. We did it ourselves, but it was nice of them to offer. We were very happy with the service there.

This is a lovely, clean hotel with private bath across the street from the St. Germain Market. You are near St. Sulpice (of da Vinci Code fame) and within walking distance of many major tourist attractions. The bathrooms have been remodeled fairly recently. The staff speak English (and probably other languages as well). They let you store your luggage if you arrive out of check-in hours. That is a big plus!
Unique Qualities: There are so many restaurants and shops in this area and there is also a Metro station (Mabillon) just a half block away. If you forget to bring anything, you are across the street from the St. Germain Market so you can pop over and buy whatever you need. There is parking undernearth the St. Germain Market and the Hotel Clement offers a discount for parking there. If you have a car (which I do not recommend in Paris), it gives you a place to store it while you use the wonderful public transportation system. There are a couple other Metro stations within an easy walk, including the Cluny-la Sorbonne RER station that goes to the airports. It is 117 euros for a double and 145 euros for a triple.

The part we enjoyed the most was hearing classical music playing outside our window. Different groups play under the Arcades at Place des Vosges and the music drifts up through your window if you open it. The hotel was very friendly, clean and well situated although I prefer to be a little closer to a Metro stop. There are many wonderful shops and restaurants in the area and of course, the art galleries on the Place.
Unique Qualities: The Place des Vosges is one of the most magical parts of Paris. It's a great place to go relax in the evenings or even take a break in the afternoon and watch the Parisians with their children. You can walk to many of the major tourist sites and if you head the other direction, you can avoid the major tourist sites. Depends on what interests you! Be mindful that you must climb a short flight of steps to get to the world's smallest elevator.

Following a trip to Bavaria, we were returning our leased car and leaving from CDG early in the morning and wanted a quiet place for the night. We certainly found it. The tiny town of Plailly is just north of CDG Airport about a 12 minute drive. We arrived, left our things and were off to visit the abbey at Chaalis. You could also easily visit the abbey of Royaumont or the chateau of Chantilly. If you want a crazy time, Parc Asterix is a few kilometers from Plailly. That's for you folks with children! . . . or the young at heart.
Unique Qualities: Pleasant, clean hotel with a very nice restaurant. It is not fancy but it is very French and the staff are helpful and thoughtful. It was so nice to check out in the morning, drive 12 minutes through the countryside and arrive at the airport with no traffic to speak of. That was why we chose it and it worked beautifully. There is also a very nice inexpensive breakfast.
