Flowers, flowers everywhere . . . | Street in Villers-sur-Mer |
We set off for a drive along the shore one day in Normandy. You don't really drive "along" the shore; you drive from one beach town to another. Some are charming and some are dreary. Villers-sur-Mer was definitely one of the charmers. Our first impression, and this was in October, was flowers everywhere. Many of the tourist shops were shuttered, but the rest of the town was open and the flowers bloomed beautifully. They didn't need tourists. |
| Tres chic shop in Villers-sur-Mer |
| | Paris in Villers-sur-Mer . . . attention getting. We parked behind the Hotel de Ville and wandered all over the cute town. There were half-timbered houses, ornate brick buildings and then there was this very original shop. I could not resist taking a photo. |
| | There is a beach too . . . The town is lovely; the shops are fun but there is also a beach. We walked through the town to the beach promenade. This is Place Jean Mermoz and overlooks the beach. It was breezy and the flags were blowing in the wind. There is a grassy area with crazy dinosaur topiaries and many flowers. Overlooking the ocean we found a pleasant-looking restaurant where we had a very nice lunch.
Hint: see the restaurant tip. 8^) |
