If it's an tropical island thing you're after - forget Cape Verde! Surely, the other Atlantic islands must be better, I haven't been to them, and I may be a bit jaded after living in Hawaii for many years, but when it comes to islands - Cape Verde is pretty much bottom of the barrel. I ONLY visited the island of Praia, the capital, to be fair, and understand some of the other islands may be some what better.
The people are very nice, however - except for the politicians. But then, isn't that always the way, no matter where you go? But, if you insist, the island group is located about 250 miles, 400 km, off the coast of Senegal where Dakar is on the pennsula.
