After 11 long years I was finally able to return to one of my favorite cities in the world! Having spent many weeks in London for half-term while attendiing boarding school in Kent, I've longed to return and my cousin's wedding was a great opportunity to go back.
I guess its been such a long time that I forgot about a lot of things. Took me about one or two rides on the Underground to reaquaint myself with it.
There was also a bit of adjustments such as how much walking London demands. Back in Southern California, we don't do as much walking because we drive around all day. In London... man I walked a lot... which was great because it sort of offset all the junk food I was eating! |
| | I enjoyed sampling a lot of the foodstuffs that I haven't eaten or drank in ages! I'm talkin about Ribena juice, Real McCoy crisps, Quavers, Flake chocolate, Mars bars! And yes, we bought fish and chips as well... but from a local store for late night eating! Also got to try some sausage rolls and steak and kidney pies! I made a big effort not to eat anything that I could get back home... they had Doritos and Princles which I couldn't believe!
One thing I wasn't too excited about was the cost of everything. So many times the prices looked similar to prices in the US, but they just had the British Pound instead of the dollars. But I guess that's just part of the experience I guess.
I loved using the Underground. I didn't like how hot it could be, but living in Southern California, I liked not having to drive around so much. Using the tube was a lot more relaxing than having to daal with LA traffic and so all the negatives that went with the tube didn't bother me too much. |

| | I went to London for my cousin's wedding which turned out to be quite an experience. Let's just say that things didn't turn out as they expected.
The Best Man was unable to make it so I had to fill in which freaked me out because I've never been one before. Still, it turned out good, I didn't screw the toast too much. |
