My favorite city!

by joits - last update: Oct 1, 2009

Can't get enough of this city

Millenium to St. Paul's Cathedral
I got into photography and immediately began thinking about all the previous trips I had gone to before owning a proper camera. I basically told myself... if I haven't been to that place without one, then its like I was never there. And so I found that I had an opportunity to return to London and this time armed with my Nikon D300 compared to the last time I was here when I just had a fairly crappy 2 megapixel Sony digi-cam.

Even though I had seen a lot of the sights and attractions before, I wanted to re-experience them and of course to take photos at those locations. Nowadays, travelers can really educate themselves on what to see so along with seeing things that I had seen before, I also managed to visit new places which I had never seen before.

I realize that a lot of what I will be updating are for locations that already have several tips from other visitors but I hope that my photos can at least show some of the beauty that I witnessed during my trip to London

Experiencing more of the culture

I'll admit that during some of my earlier trips to London I wasn't as adventurous as I wished I was. While going to school in the UK during my childhood, I spent numerous mid-term holidays in London and I really didn't take advantage of some of the local cuisines. I made sure to at least visit one pub and have a pint or two. I also made a conscious effort to not eat at any franchise places that were common to both the US and the UK.

I hope to return again... and again... and again..

As someone who loves photography, London is a dream city to visit. There are so many things to photograph. It will appeal to any type photographer, whether you like portraits, or architecture or urban photography. London has almost anything you could ask for. When the sun goes down, the city offers even more opportunities.

This last trip, I also had the opportunity to visit Stonehenge. I know that there are those who say that its just a pile of rocks... but for me, it was an amazing visit just knowing some of the history and mystery surrounding it.
