This is the capital city of Isle of Skye. Its a pretty cool small town. Its a nice place to stop and get supplies for your drive around the island. There's a cocouple of banks if you need to withdraw money.

The Vikings once invaded and stayed in the Isle of Skye. They stayed at this place and used it as a fortress and a lookout point. Too bad the weather did a number on it and left it to how it looks today...

This stream is located somewhere between the town of Kyleakin and Portree. The story is that some viking princess who was ugly cos she fell and hit her face on the rocks dipped her face in the stream and voila... she's all hot n stuff. The story is much longer but I'm lazy to tell it.

Our guide told us this and then he said he was going to dip his face in the stream. As a cynical person, I thought he was just pulling our leg... but there he went, and he dipped his face.

So according to legend, you have to dip your face in the water for about ten seconds. So our guide did it, the guys in the tour group did it... but the chicks... man the chicks were chicken... none of the ladies did it. hehe... I think one of the girls did it, the cute German girl... but the rest... man...

You get great views from your car, but to really see the Isle of Skye, you got to get out.... stretch out them legs and explore. There are tons of hiking trails.

A great one is the hike up to the rocks called the Old Man Storr. There's a story behind this one as well... which I can't remember... damn!

Anywayz... its a great walk, its quite long and its a gradual incline. Believe it or not, we actually had people on our tour who went on this hike in flip-flops!! Wear good shoes cos its a long walk up and down. But you get really great views and when you get up top, great place for a picnic or something!
