Our Easter Island sunburns! OUCH!

Necessary Items

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Although it was very hot when we travelled there (December 2003), it was very windy. A windbreaker would have been handy. Be sure to bring some good shoes for hiking. Although you don't have to hike too far to see the moais, you'll want some comfortable shoes when you do so. I wore a pair of Teva sandals to the quarry once and nearly tumbled down the mountain! Be prepared to throw away the hiking shoes after your trip - they'll be REALLY worn and stained from the dark dirt!

Photo Equipment: Bring every lens and camera you have! We kept running out of film! I don't think you can take a bad photo of a moai...

Miscellaneous: Be sure to bring a lot of sunscreen. It was very windy when we were there (December 2003), so you don't realize how HOT it is and how much sun you got until it is WAY too late! Slap on the sunscreen or you'll end up looking like a lobster!
