Santa Cruz
the first thing we notice
is your oil crude
I wish I could see
that beautiful ocean
instead all I see
are the large ships in motion

If your beauty is not near the sea
where should I look?

Your architecture is lovely
a picturesque scape
against the mountain background
of great volcanic landscape

You make the walks pleasant
through the city streets and plazas
you have so many flowers
like a big bouquet of salsas

Your people are friendly
and very tolerant of visitors
you thrive on the tourism
and goods in tax free stores

I wish your buses were more reliable
it would have made my schedule more viable
but it's OK, I forgive your bus drivers
who were striking that week for better hires

All in all, I loved your city
but even more, I loved your island
If you visit Santa Cruz, don't neglect
to take the drive through the inland!
