Trier is actually the oldest city in Germany, build in 16 BC by the Romans. By the end of the 3rd Century the city was an Imperial Residence and capital of the West-Roman Empire.

Christmas time is a nice period to visit, as the atmosphere is so particular… Weihnachtsmarkt, Christmas decorations, lights and music...and Glühwein of course ! A period I like pretty much :-)
Apart from the Christmas market, Trier is a lovely town with a strong past and its glorious history is still to be witnessed everywhere as you stroll through the bustling Old Quarter. The face of Trier is impressively shaped by the Roman era. And I will certainly go back to discover more of the historical treasures the city has to offer.
