    • The City Gates were built in the 18th century.
    Some years ago, these gates were in front of harbour, and they were the point of entrance to the city from the sea.
    Looking at the sea, and on the middle of the square, is the statue of Gonçalo Velho Cabral, the first Portuguese navigator to arrive at the first island to be discovered - Santa Maria Island.
    The clock tower belongs to the main church - Igreja Matriz.

    • The building, which is on Praça do Município, is an interesting example of the baroque style (17th and 18th centuries). The tower, built in 1724, with a bell form the 16th century, was a gift of the king D. João III.
    The statue of São Miguel Arcanjo, the main saint of the Island.

    • This beautiful monument was built between 1531 and 1547 on the same place of a small church.
    It is a representation of the gothic style, with evidences of manueline style at the main entrance.
    Inside this monument, embroideries in gold thread are found in addition to some rare wood such as “Pau Santo” (from Brazil).

    • This church was built in 1709.
    A hispano-mexican influence seen in the sculptured religious statues, blue and white tiles and wood work done in Jacarandá wood, baroque style.

    • This church was the old Jesuit College, and presents a majestic façade in the Baroque style. At the end of 2004, the process of restauration was completed.

    • The Convent and Chapel of Our Lady of Hope, known as "Convento da Esperança" or simply Saint Christ's Church "Igreja do Senhor Santo Cristo", is home to the magnificent statue of "Senhor Santo Cristo dos Milagres" Christ of Miracles, the patron of the largest religious festival in the Azores.
    The construction of this monument goes back to the XVI century.
    The statue of Senhor Santo Cristo dos Milagres is only a part of the valious tresour kept inside this monument.

    • The construction of this monument started in the 15th century, but it took more than two centuries to finish, where, despite the many changes made to the initial structure over the time, its original precious gilded woodcarvings, among which a richly ornamented high altar, can still be seen. Among other treasures, a beautiful statue of the Virgin Mary of the Pains, several images and reliquaries from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries, the painting Feast of Pentecost by the Portuguese artist Pedro Alexandrino de Carvalho, beautiful ornate windows as well as, in the sacristy, some touching votive offerings from sailors can be admired.

    • The Santana Palace (designed by an English architect in 1846), located on the North side in Ponta Delgada, is inside a beautiful garden and serve nowadays as the residence of the President of the Regional Government of the Azores.
    In the extensive garden you can find native Azorean plants, interesting shrubs and a long allée of box trees.

    • This monument was at the past a convent (Saint André Convent). Nowadays houses the Carlos Machado Museum.
    This museum portrays the development of the region's fishing and farming industries over the centuries.

     This bus were replaced by the mini bus that A Line that goes to the old airport , to the new , dosen't have any bus only taxi
