Growing up in England, trips to Paris were not uncommon. However, they initially were with parents and then at 17 as part of an Inter-Rail trip across Europe that involved mostly staying in camp sites and spending the equivalent of only $5 a day. Not really much for Paris.
So now that I am able to spend a bit more money on my vacations Paris has grown in enjoyment. When you're able to just go for a drink as you walk and stop in corner cafes for lunch Paris' real appeal begins to set in. |
| | Paris is a walking city, so be prepared. The Metro is the best way of covering long distances and is easy to understand. My recommendation is to find a great, small hotel near the areas you want to explore. Then walk or Metro it from one site to the next, while leaving yourself open to being side-tracked by either a cool store or, more likely, if you just feel like stopping at a cafe and having a glass of wine while you watch the world go by. There is no need to rush. |
You'll probably run out of time before you see all the different places, but some of the more obvious locations to include should be: The Louvre The Eiffel Tower Notre Dame Montmatre Champs Elysse The Latin Quarter Sacre Coeur Arc De Triomphe Palais Royale (just for a cool photo on the columns). | | |

Talk to you soon. | Geisha_Girl Tue Dec 9, 2008 02:33 UTC Paris? Soon? .....I made it through the wilderness and just posted the 'sneak peek' of the WILD Patagonian adventure. More to come. Far cry from climbing those tabletops in St. Barths! | retiredtravelers Tue Jan 29, 2008 01:04 UTC For a wonderful view of Paris, walk to the top of Sacre Coeur. It is a winding trip to the top, but the view is worth any effort. P.S. Don't throw away your metro tickets until you are out of the destination station. Big fine. | Italiana07 Fri Mar 9, 2007 14:07 UTC Get Your Walking Shoes Ready! - oh yes, I agree! I lost all my energy ...:) but I think Paris is worth of it! greetings from Poland :) |
