Porta patet, cor magis

The door stands open, but the heart even more so -
Eberbach Monastery was once home to the Cistercian Monks who lived worked and prayed in the community of Eberbach.
Eberbach sits in the heart of the Rheingau about which Heinrich von Kleist described as the Wine Garden created by "Con Amore" by the Good Lord.

The Eberbach Monastery is indeed very special. I too was fascinated with the dormitory. Lucky you to have found such a lovely family run hotel, so late in the night and the breakfast sure sounds yummy.

A very interesting page about another lovely little German town.

What an amazing place! I love especially the monk’s dormitory! I must visit it as I have already visited Sacra San Michele, the other place that inspired Eco for Name of the Rose (my Avigliana page)

An interesting place with a fascinating history. I did see the Sean Connery film, but I guess I wasn't paying too much attention to the monastery when I watched it.
