Lorsch and its Medieval Past

by scottishvisitor - last update: Nov 1, 2006

A puzzle in the History Books

Lorsch Gate or King's Hall
We spent a lovely morning with bright blue sky and late Autumn sunshine in the little town of Lorsch. Just strolling around the quiet little streets of this very picture postcard market town, watching the antics of the geese who tried all sorts of tricks to grab our attention to their need for some scraps and trying to fit the pieces of a puzzle together of the enigma of Lorsch's two intrigueing buildings. Lorsch - yes - a good place to let your mind wander back through the centuries.
Autumn Colours of Ivy & Vine
Maybe the Geese know the answer!!

Pros:"Quiet = Relaxing & Laid Back"
Cons:"Lorsch has been added to UNESCO - so it may not always be quiet"
In A Nutshell:"I'm so glad we saw this place in morning sunshine"

Lovely page, Joan. The garden at the Cloisters must be so fragrant. I also think that the hand-illustrated manuscript is beautiful. Good photos. So great that Ingrid was with you.

Interesting historical tips! I'm glad to learn that Lorsch has more to offer than just poisoning people with its tobacco products. Great that you were with Ingrid so she could give you a guided tour. She knows that whole area better than anybody else!

Fabulous little page here. This is another town I have never heard of, but this one is located in Germany, my homecountry and not in Scotland.
