We Left Warsaw | The place where they buried a city |
When and where makes no difference There is no sense in choosing partings. No matter when a wound comes, it is still a wound. Nor is travel a cure, as it said, the heart is no traveller, it lives obstinately in its obscure tribal haunts - The heart can make it's home anywhere but will not change or move.......................................................................................... ...........it cannot always avoid the tune or the words, for the wireless may play music, or some thoughtless hand fit a disc to the gramophone, and the helpless heart is made aware again of its home and the present emptiness there. No other rewinding, ony its self, entirely alone. - Having written these three words "We left Warsaw" try as I will, no other words but these will get themselves written down after them..................... ................."When I was leaving Warsaw in September 1939, my thoughts were I will never see this place again. |
| A truely determinded objective - Warsaw re-built |
| | Risen from the Ashes Words written by my Dad, letter postmarked Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland, 4pm 23rd. March 1982 - The heart is no traveller - I left Warsaw Somebody wrote somewhere, I know have idea where and hope I am doing nothing out of order in quoting it here without permission and perhaps, misquoting a bit): "We left Warsaw" When you're fit with courage an determination you can achieve a lot with a bit of luck in your life! |
My Dad sees Warsaw again After years of Soviet control my Dad finally applied for a British Passport and went back to see his beloved Warsaw in 1979 - torn between two countries and Families, Scottish Grandchildren and children and sent his letter to me just before my youngest son was born on 23rd. April 1982. My Dad passed away on 1st. May 1982. May Poland always be free!! | | |
