I couldn't pass this by
The Saltire Shop as the name would suggest contains everything Scottish. The shop is large and spacious, a new addition to Aberdeen shops and a welcome addition to the usual High Street Stores. It really is a fun place to browse with some serious shopping items and a lot of funny novelty items as well.
What to buy: I did consider buying Finn a tiny baby Scotland Strip but resisted temtation till he is a little bigger. They have a cute range of kids clothes, toys and other kiddy things. Adults are not excluded either with some nice clothing and funny novelties too. I did buy a bib which pronounced 'Of course I'm cute I'm Scottish' I hasten to add this was not for personal use but I did think the t-shirt in the window would have suited me well.
What to pay: Prices are good for the quality of goods.

Choose a bear any bear
Great idea - see your bear being made - add a voice - choose an outfit - add a heart - get an adoption certificate & he's yours to love forever a great idea for children
What to buy: A bear of course and many other animals besides
What to pay: About £10 & upwards

The sign I love to see
Blacks is part of a chain of sport and outdoor wear stores which includes Millets and Freespirit. I like Blacks the most out of this chain as it has more choices of outdoor wear. The staff are all young people, very knowledgable and always ready with a friendly smile.
What to buy: If you can resist shopping - as I can - wait until after mid summer when they will have upto 50% reductions on most stock. I bought some t-shirts, walking trousers and a hooded jacket. I can't be that much of a bargain hunter because I just checked my receipt and two identical t-shirt , apart from colour, had a £7.00 difference in price!!
What to pay: Prices are not cheap here - this is why I only really shop here when they have a sale.

Bears in a tub
Imagine trying to sell over sized, outdoor hot tubs in the North East of Scotland!!
They all had a sold sticker on at the knock down price of £5,000 - wish we got the weather to go with the price tag.
What to buy: We did not buy a hot tub = they are not appropriate here in the North East of Scotland
What to pay: Thankfully nothing

The Disney Store
Great place for kids with many toys & dressing up costumes, kids just love make believe and this is the place to release their imagination. Nice Disney videos on showand good play centre where the children have 'hands on the latest toys' as Disney says ' a magical experience'
What to buy: Toys
Games
Clothes
Videos & DVD's
What to pay: Use your credit card- you will probably need it.

Book Store for Browsing
Ottakar's is a large book store in the city, it has two floors with books on any subject you care to read about. I usually spend far too much money and a great deal of time in these shops, but then reading is such a pleasure for me. You can have a coffee here in pleasant surroundings and of course start reading your purchases.
What to buy: I usually buy travel guides here, they have such a varied selection.
What to pay: Depends on the book but the travel guide books cost from £5.00 to £15.00
Address: 3/7 Union Bridge Trinity Centre
Directions: The shop has entrances from the Trinity Centre and Union Street in the shopping street of Aberdeen
Phone: 01224 592 440

Visit a craft fair
Everything Scottish for sale from clothing to furniture. No mass produced items - some very original clothing & jewellery.
What to buy: I really likes the coffee table made out of an old Scottish tree stump - but with a price tag of £1,600 I changed my mind & bought some handmade soap & a Haggis whistle!!
What to pay: As much as you can afford.
Address: Various venues up & down the country
