Elgin used to be a Cathedral City and later became a Royal Burgh -today it is just a simple Highland town situated near the Moray Coast, only seventy five miles from home but it takes around an hour and a half to get here. There is no dual carriageway to speed the journey but the coast road (A96) provides a senic route. My Son and his family moved to Elgin at the end of July - I couldn't believe we had rain after our sunny arrival for a weekend visit in August! Our second trip to deliver Shannan's Birthday present saw some fine sunny weather but we were only here for a day in September. A future weekend visit will see me back in the Highland town again in October - hopefully the sun will shine and I will again see my favourite family. Well the sun did shine revealing lovely Autumn colours during my October visit with more to see and do. The update is a link to YouTube of the Haunting Aire of Highland Cathedral |

Kuznetsov_Sergey Wed Aug 5, 2009 18:32 UTC I've explored your updates from October, 2007. Thanks Joan for the virtual tour to this ancient town with wonderful Cathedral. I enjoyed the pics from Zoo and the dog on intro page. Really you shall miss Charly! | JLBG Sun Jun 21, 2009 05:30 UTC Visit of the Black Isle Brewery looks very informative ... and with a pleasant end! I hope their will remain small fishing boats for a long time. Superb photo of reflections of the town! | BruceDunning Thu Jun 11, 2009 22:52 UTC I visited this site since I was raised in Elgin, Illinois US. What a different perspective. It looks like a real fine town and area to tour. Thanks for the wonderful pics and comments | Bwana_Brown Thu Feb 19, 2009 18:19 UTC I loved the time worn appearance of the stone buildings in Elgin and a very lovely park too! What a beautiful part of Scotland this is. Great updates Joan! |
