Under the Outdoor Access Code everyone has a right to walk in the countryside almost anywhere. We had a long, pleasant walk which takes you past Scondubh the last little white cottage in the village. The road becomes private here but poses no problems - it just means no vehicles are allowed except those belonging to people from the estate. Continuing along the reinforced path we then passed through a new plantation - Cnoc na Lise (knoll of the garden) The views of the River Ewe are lovely from here, we continued walking along the river bank until we reached open moorland and the path to Kernsay Estate. Time to turn back to walk the two miles back into the villlage with two happy but tired dogs.

Equipment: Although the weather behaved for us on this walk with no snow showers, waterproof trousers and jackets are necessary even in summer. Walking boots are also an advantage especially if you leave the track to walk onto the moorland which is very, very wet and boggy. Dogs must be kept under close control or on a short lead. My dogs had no problem with the many sheep we encountered along the way and stayed quiet with no barking at all.

The tumbling water and the tumbling snow in Altan Dhub is spectacular. Have not seen like this before. Thanks Joan for sharing.

Ys, both Ullapool and Inverness are really nice; I still have at least two more pages to add but I don't know when, I added Santiago de C., Malta..., and next Monday I'll begin a new trip for 5 days. I'll have a look at your pages
