Excellent Scenery in quiet surroundings The most fortunate of the Fortunate Islands, as the Canaries are known. No sign postings No fast food No sports bars No tourist tat No MacDonalds No Looky Looky people Just peace & quiet in harmony with nature and all the goodness she has to offer. |
| | Escape from Tenerife La Gomera remains unspoilt (at the moment) by tourism. It has a quiet rugged beauty. Sub tropical climate creates an abundance of plants, trees & fruits. The roads which snake up & down the mountains & valleys remain quiet, if not a trifle hair raising.
It is a walkers paradise - stroll out and listen to the bird song - take in the excellent lush scenery and admire natures miracle in transforming volcanic rock into a botanical paradise. |
Nature really does get to show off All forms of vegetation come alive at the Garajonay National Park visitors centre. Plants from the South America's & other sub tropical places flourish in the year round warm temperatures. Interestingly, common garden plants are seen too, but much larger than I can grow at home. Truely a gardener's paradise! | | | Flora & Fauna in abundance |

lynnehamman Thu May 21, 2009 03:48 UTC Isla de la Gomera does indeed look like a wonderful unspoiled place- not very left on Earth sans McDonalds! The photos are good, complimenting the tips. | yumyum Wed Apr 1, 2009 19:15 UTC I haven't been to that part of the world yet but it looks well worth exploring! Hope that the tank and ceiling will be fixed for good soon! | Nemorino Wed Mar 11, 2009 23:37 UTC La Gomera really does sound like "the most fortunate of the Fortunate Islands", at least as long as it stays so quiet and unspoiled. I love your opening photo of those terraced hillsides. | jumpingnorman Fri Feb 20, 2009 00:14 UTC Beautiful scenery here in Gomera! I have to explore these islands someday, Norman :) |
