Franz Josef Village

To reach Franz Josef Glacier, travelers need to hit Franz Josef Village (or town) first. It took about 8 hours (including photo stops & lunch break) for InterCity shuttle to send us from Queenstown to Franz Josef Village. The town is just one street with a couple of shops and few places to eat.

Franz Josef Glacier

Franz Josef Glacier is part of Westland National Park, sandwiched between the Tasman Sea and the Southern Alps.

It's impressive while finding yourself face-to-face with billions meter cubic of solid blue ice. That's why this place is very popular with tourists.

Up Close and Personal

The best way to appreciate the size of majesty of the glacier is up close and personal.

The glacier could be explored by many ways: a guided hands-on hike on the glacier itself, ice climbing or the expensive birds-eye helicopter tour which including a snow landing.
