Having being dropped off a local bus from Vinh, on the main street, we had little idea of accomodation available and were heading for only one we had heard of, Queens. A motorbike pulls up and the rider asks if we are looking for somewhere to stay. Usually, I would be very suspicious and reluctant to go with such offers but he showed us the hotel card and said if we came and did not like the place, he would take us to Queens for free. Fair enough!!
No worrying necessary though, as from the moment we arrived, the whole family who own the hotel were so warm and friendly and the hotel new, spotless, well equipped and located.
Given that Ninh Binh doesnt really get that many over night visitors, there arent that many restaurants but there is no need for them as the hotel's food is excellent (see restaurant tip). The restaurant is downstairs and was a good meeting places for the travellers staying there especially when the owner keeps giving you shots of the local brew for free!!
Rooms are tiled floors and all ensuite with double glazing, balconies, tv, hot water, a/c, fan and nicely furnished. Building is your typical narrow, tall Vietnamese style and they are currently working on doubling the size.
They offer bike and motorbike rental, tour services, train tickets and cafe bus tickets. Their advice is excellent and there is no attempt to rip you off at any point. We went on a variety of trips with them. All excellent.
Even on departure, they will take you to the train or bus for free and will not accept no for an answer.
Unique Qualities: Friendliness and great service of the staff.
Great value for money hotel (10 USD for double room) and travel services.
