Hostal Levante: Hostel Levante-Not cheap nor cheerful!!
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Satisfaction:
  • Checking in was really easy, but the staff were dreadful, unfriendly, and possessing a definite 'I can't be bothered' attitude. Room had a fan, which didn't work well, so we boiled, even with the window open. (couldn't do this at night due to drunks walking loudly past every night.)
Easy enough to find, and the rooms were very clean. Even though we weren't supposed to be out until 12 for cleaners to come, we were untimely awoken every morning at 8o-clock by them banging around noisily!!!

Unique Qualities: Didn't think there were any really good things about this accomodation apart from the location which is just off the Ramblas, handy, but not worth it, for €56 a night.

Hostal Baires: Hostel Baires-Really Great Place.
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Satisfaction:
  • Booked three nights here, then stayed for seven as it was so nice. Big room, good fan, and lovely staff. It was cheaper than the two previous places, and was really quiet throughout day and night!! There were four plug sockets round the room, so you could plug in as many things as you wanted, and we could always buy a selection of chilled food and nibbles like crisps there too.
The payphone was cheap, and the hostel is really easy to find. I wasn't busy either, so there was no need to book really far ahead.

Unique Qualities: Lovely staff and very cool, quiet rooms, which was right off the Ramblas.

I think spain is still the country the most visited in the world , although people seem to prefer portugal , to avoid the "I can't be bothered attitude" of some spanish staff
