Are there really seasons in Los Angeles?!

Actually I live in ENCINO, one of the 58 districts of Los Angeles, about 8 k. NW of Beverly Hills. My house is only 1/2 k. from one of the best shopping & dining streets in the world, Ventura Boulevard -- and yet is also only 1/2 k. from wildernness hiking where I once saw a mountain lion. I cannot go to the local grocery market without hearing Russian Language and Spanish and Farsi (Persian) as much as English. But that's what Los Angeles is really about: its earth and rocks and vistas, its melting pot culture but not Hollywood and pretentious cars. Okay, the downside is an an average house in a good district will now cost you about one million dollars! Nothing is perfect, right? :-)

sshhh, don't wake the coyotes...

on the trail with friends...

This is a trail near my house. Look in one direction and see wild rugged hills with barking coyotes under a diamond carpeted sky. Look in the other direction and see neon signs, fast cars, faster women, and the flash of city lights...

He's supposed to be a herding dog! :-)

My puppy thinks he's a great swimmer....

Go a few miles west of my district and you will come to the bays and beaches of Santa Monica, Malibu and Ventura. -- This is my puppy dog who is looking out for the chance to herd some seagulls, or fish, or people, or boats., or maybe even a famous celebrity who he can annoy... but there sure aren't any sheep out on this Pacific Ocean.

Pros and Cons

Pros:Great weather, everything you could possible want is nearby...
Cons:Real estate is too expensive - except for the many celebrities who live here...
In a nutshell:Like Beverly Hills for the less pretentious...
