South Africa The rainbow nation! The nature is as diverse as the cultures in this fantastic country. From the world famous Krüger Park with its rich animal life to smaller, exclusive and privately owned game reserves. From the green cane sugar fields around Durban, over the Drakensberg mountains to the dry land of the Karoo. This is a destination for the nature and animal lovers!!! |
La Réunion This unknown island in the Indian Ocean is a paradise! It's a french department and probably the most southern point of the European Union! I really loved the immense diversity! From the jungle like and lush green east coast to the dry and almost savanna like north west to the bizarre lava formations of the still active vulcanoe! From the 3'000 meter high Piton des Neiges to the underwater world of the coral reefs. And all of this within only a few hundred kilometers! This island is a paradise for active people. There are a lot of activities offered such as hikes, paragliding, canioning, rock climbing, fishing and so on! Because it's a french department, the infrastructure is very good. The roads are great and there are good hotels! Mauritius is only about 1 hour flight away. So you can idealy combine La Réunion with Mauritius, adventure with quiet beach holiday! |
| Lions in Chobe Nationalpark |
Botswana The Okavango Delta is with no doubt the highlight of Botswana. It's the biggest inland delta in the world and provides a lot of animals with water in the otherwise dry Kalahari desert. That's why a great amount of animals live here, such as lion, giraff, elefant, zebra, leopard, buffalo, different bucks and birds,... However, there are also other interesting aerias in Botswana, like the Chobe national park, known for it's large herds of Elefant, Savuti which is known for it's predators especially the lions and the large Makgadikgadi salt pans! Botswana is the place to go for nature and animal lovers! There is a high price policy which helps to prevent mass tourism and conserve this unique environment. That's why most lodges in the Okavango Delta are very expensive! But there are more affordable ways to travel to Botswana. For example with a camping safari with Drifters, Sunways or Jenman! |
