City of Suprises

When I first arrived in CQ, I really could not believe what I saw. Fresh from the city of Auckland I was shocked and almost horrified at the first glance. It seemed like time had forgotten this huge city. I have been living in CQ for 10 months and have fallen head over heels in love with it.
The people are what make it so enjoyable. They are friendly, happy to help out and always pleased to see a foreigner.
Been a city of 8 million people it has its ups and downs. Firstly nobody ever knows what is going on in the city. Quite a few times we have by chance stumbled across firework displays and other activities that would have interested us if we had known about them. Also nobody knows where anything is. I have a friend who is trying to sort out a directory but because of the huge building that is going on in CQ, roads keep disappearing making it very hard to finish.
CQ is probably called a rural/industry city. There are alot of western companys investing huge amounts of money in CQ - mainly car and motor-bike companies. So, CQ is not really what I would call a tourist haven but it does have its fair share of interesting sights.
Shopping is terrible and you are unable to purchase alot of things you may want.
My favourite thing about CQ is its people. Not much English is spoken here but they do go out of their way to say hello and make you feel welcome.

Intersting spot you have chosen to live! Bird walking - could be a business opportunity. Birthday greetings from Alaska!
