Not Dracula's Castle as they will try to sell you.

If you come to Romania, please do not go directly to Bran.
You might be told that Bran's castle is Dracula's castle but that is not true!
I was told by locals that Dracula maybe slept in the dungeons of the castle as a prisoner when fleeing the Turks, around the year1462.

It is one of the most developed tourist towns of Romania and I can tell you that if you have seen the surronding villages, Bran can be very, very disapointing.

Come here if you are interested in Dracula knick knacks : t-shirts, ashtrays, masks, you name it.

Otherwise, visit the castle and run away from the town as far as you can!

Queen Maria arrived to the castle for the first time in the 1920's and made it her summer residence until 1947, when King Michael was forced into abdication.

Most of the furniture was brought from other European Countries and the special decoration can still be seen inside.

Maybe Dracula was never real, but Vlad Tepes was, and he sounds far more scary.
