HONG KONG ISLAND

by Nemoa - last update: Dec 18, 2004

I came to HK without knowing very well what to expect but I can tell you that I absolutely loved it!

Maybe because it is a shopper's paradise and I am a crazy shopper!

I don't know, forget about deep China. This has nothing to do with it.

HK is an ex-British Colony as it was a very interesting port for the trading for tea and silk and that is something you can notice straightaway here.

To start with, a lot of the layout of the island is British style and English is still today quite widely spoken and there is a bit of a Brit atmosphere going on. Not like in the UK! of course.. that would be too much but somehow HK is different from the rest of China, more open and a bit more close to the European culture.

I love it!!

you are right, on sundays u can see hundreds of filipinos and indonesians (not malaysians by the way) crowding the malls, having a fellowship and to foster good relationship among themselves
