Getting TO/AROUND: I loved the sky train.
Cheap or not, depends on where you come from but it is speedy, clean, reliable and air conditioned. In Bangkok, believe me, this is godliness.

YOu can have a one day pass for 100 Baht or different types of ticket depending on your needs. So it is flexible.

It only has two lines, that is the only BUT... But , will say, if your stop is in one of them, do not hesitate to use it. Thumbs up for the BTS Skytrain

Metered Taxis: Hike a taxi ride

Getting TO/AROUND: Metered taxis are good and comparatively cheap way to get around Bangkok.
Just make sure that the meter is on, that the driver speaks sufficient English to understand your destination and how to get there and do not hesitate. Quite often the cars are oldish and not as comfy as we know them here in Europe but they will have Air con and you won't breath the nasty fumes from the exhausts as you travel.

This, in Bangkok, is very much to say, believe me.

They will normally charge you an airport tax to take you from and to the airport but charges should be displayed inside the vehicle so you know.

Tuk-tuks: Just for the sake of the experience...

Getting TO/AROUND: OK, I guess when you are a tourist in Bangkok you have to take a tuk tuk, just for the sake of experiencing it and because sometimes you will try without any success to hike a taxi so, the tuk tuk will be the only available option.

Only two words of advice, settle the price in advance and don't be too flexible or you won't get anywhere near your intended destination.

Also bear in mind that they are not enclosed vehicles so you will be breathing the fumes and exhaust during all your trip. Bear this in mind if you are travelling with kids for instead.

Also, you will be in for a bumpy ride. Sometimes it will be fun. Sometimes it won't.
