We had 54 on our thermometer!!! | and a good time was had by all!! |
According to our guide, when the temperature rises to 50 or above the Sultan of Oman declares a no work day, funny how the temperature never rises above 49 on state radio. This was an impossible place to keep cool unless you confined yourself to the inside of the hotel. Then you would miss the mystique of the bazaar's and the incredible desert landscape of the Interior. Anyhow, just drink beer it passes the time and seemingly relieves the heat, copious amounts are required of course because by the time the waiter gets from the bar to the pool the stuff's getting warm already and at U$D 10.00 a beer you did not want it hot.... It was noticeable even in 1996 how the attitude towards Non American visitors differed, as South African's for a change we were treated like real people, that said we were posted at the hotel as "South Africa's Elite". |

| Pros: | "Fantastic place to shop, wonderful bazaar's, incredible antiquities, stunning land scape," | | Cons: | "Too Hot, I guess there are cheaper places but in this heat you want real comfort, and that cost real money wherever you go." | | In A Nutshell: | "Been there, done that," |
