Amazing Place, step back 50 years in one day

Do this city on foot

Port Authority Building Odessa
Odessa, the City with 97 statues of Starlin.
A tour on foot will take you past the impressive Potemken Staircase which was completed in 1841and featured in the film "Battleship Potemken".
Walking along Odessa's popular promenade, you can see some of the Cities most cherished buildings and monuments and you will pass the internationally famous and magnificent Opera house.
If you then go through the centre of this historical City you will find galleries and museums displaying a collection of Russian and Ukrainian paintings dating back to the 14th Century and never exhibited in the west.
Cheap was of the essence in 96, there was little or nothing to buy and the U$D was king in this place, I changed a 10 Dollar bill and had more than I could spend, 1,840,000 whatever the currency was, we had the stuff stuffed in every place it would fit, assuming that at least half of it would disappear when we bought a cup of coffee and it didn't, we stopped at a stall at the top of the stair case and bought some bits and peices and i just dumped all this cash on the counter and left, the guy ran out slammed and locked his door and shot up the road like Jessie Owens.
Mmmmm, perhaps I'll go back and see what it's like now.

Pros:"This is a real history trip, poverty runs at the same level as it did in 1945"
Cons:"None, This place is phenomenal."
In A Nutshell:"Any old war hero's that want a trip down memory lane, does anyone have children that want to know "what was it like""

Your story of the crying waitress is heartrending. Hoping the people there have remained as less worldly as they had been nearly a decade ago. Or do you think this is wishful thinking on my part?
