Taiwan the Land of Plenty.... but who's? | everything gets ripped off here |
It's not a country, at best it's an economy..... I have fond memories here, we lived in Taipei for 18 months and we met some of the most genuine people we have ever known, we also tried to do business and work with some of those great big smiling faces and laughing eye's only to find that they are as genuine as the products that are made there, this is not the place to buy you Nike's in the market, or your golf clubs at the pro shop. it is however the place to go party over the weekend, the food is outstanding, the traffic is dangerous, put the Taiwanese in control of anything with wheels and the most wonderful of people become totally morose, that includes a shopping trolly, through the summer some folk go to the big shopping centers just to walk around in an air conditioned environment they don't do any shopping. Well that's Taipei in a nut shell. You want to visit Taiwan go south from the airport and give Taipei a wide birth, infact don't even bother. Head straight for Taichung, it has the night life, the charisma and all the bells and whistles. Plenty to do and see in and around this city, not to mention it is less than half the price of Taipei to stay in, no traffic problems (well comparitivly speaking) from there you can head further south to where they actually do have sandy beaches and clear blue water Tainan Betel Babe territory, round the bottom of the island (where you will do your wallet some damage) and up the other side to Hualeen and Taroco gorge, this stunning marble gorge is a must to see, do it in the week or out of season because a day out on saturday and sunday in this place is pull yer hair out time the traffic is horrendous and the traffic police don't give a monkey's. |
Allied Pickfords Removals Yo, hold on stop the bus here!!! you want to know about this bunch of cowboy's go to the Warnings or dangers bit that's where it belongs |

Bwana_Brown Sat Apr 9, 2005 03:24 UTC Danny, nice that you got right to the heart of the matter! A fantastic pub and terrible movers! My only experience in Taipei was a brief airport stop-over while flying from South Korea to Papua New Guinea! | Wild_Orchid Wed Oct 27, 2004 10:36 UTC some interesting tips here. in Malaysia, people visit shopping malls for the same reason-the air-conditioning! :-) | Yaqui Thu Jul 29, 2004 05:44 UTC Food tips are always important and interesting.
