Weekend Getaway

by traveldream - last update: Sep 13, 2005

The view from my hotel room
Bandung, the city of flowers, the capital city of West Java province, is a favourite weekend getaway for Jakarta citizens... as well as the former home to some of them who are now working and living in Jakarta. Bandung can be reached by bus, car, or train - it took about 2-3 hours from Jakarta. When in Bandung for leisure, most activities are shopping and eating. There are many kinds of food and fashion outlets.

My English teacher, Mike, has just told a story about his weekend in Bandung. He was impressed by the train ride, because the view was very beautiful. But he was disappointed by the traffic jam in Dago on Saturday night. I wish I had told him about what happend on Dago street on Saturday nights... Based on his bad experience (sorry, Mike...), I've written a tip about it.
In Juanda national park

Juanda national park

Not many pople knows that Bandung has more than fashion outlets and food stalls. In Upper Dago area there is a national park called Hutan Juanda (literally means 'Juanda Forest').
The Bosscha Observatorium

Lembang

Lembang is the higher and cooler area. Some people spend a holiday there to rest, and perhaps to eat rabbit satay (poor cute animals...). There is the Bosscha Observatorium in Lembang, which is part of the reputable Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). You can visit the observatorium on particular days and hours. I will write a tip about it.

Hello Zindy, yes, I am going to those 2 places and might include Bandung too. Heard that the train ride from here to Yogya is the best in Asia?
