Favorite thing: If you are wanting to see a specific act/show, then book in advance especially for headliners!
BUT if you just want to see a great show at a discounted price, and you are not bothered about seeing a particular show, or where you might be seated, this tip is for YOU.
There is a small little known company called Tix4Tonight, they sell tickets daily for shows on that day, and they sell them at half price! Basically they buy up the extra tickets for shows and then sell them at half price. Once you have your ticket you need to sprint to the booking office at the location of your show and be allocated your seats.
They are also well located, directly opposite the NYNY hotel is that giant coca-cola bottle (next to the MGM), they are inside that. They open at 10am, but start posting availability at 9:30.
There are other locations now, so check out thier website www.tix4tonight.com.
You can save money and go see some great shows this way.
The website has a $2 coupon currently, just print it off and take it to the stand.
Favorite thing: OK, I'm off to Vegas again and again I'm doing it on a budget.
There are loads of things to do in Vegas FREE!! The casinos want to get you there because once you are there, you might spend some money. SO they put on FREE things to tempt you through the doors.
(I'll be posting a list of things that I have done FREE when I come back, meantime check out this list of free things, http://www.vegas.com/attractions/freeattractions.html )
Fondest memory: TIP-1 Want to gamble?? OK, her is my tip. Dont go out too early, sit down enjoy your dinner. Vegas picks up a little later, but as I discovered at 04:30 its quiet so dont go out too late. Take a set amount of money out with you, whatever your budjet allows. For example I would take out $40 max, now I want to drink a few beers, so that does not leave me much to gamble with. WRONG! Find a table, I like Craps, you can stand and watch people playing on a $1 table (minimum bet $1, there are $20 tables etc etc.) Stand and watch for a while, enjoy your drink, and then start playing it will make the night longer than if you walk up to a table and start playing straight away. While standing at the tables the waitresses come over and ask if you want a drink, YES PLEASE its free (I try to tip $1).
As long as the cocktail waitress thinks you are gambling, you can get free drinks. Cocktail waitresses prowl the floors of all the major casinos, giving out free drinks. Place you order and the next time the waitress makes her round she will bring you the drink of your choice. If you leave a tip they'll come back again to take another order.
Although this is technically free, you really are expected to be actively gambling and leave tips to take advantage of it. It is easy enough, however, to hang out on a slot machine chair or in a sports book and still be able to recieve the drinks. People usually leave about a dollar tip per drink unless they are doing well at the tables or getting drunk.
The waitresses serve people at the tables first and the slots after, I have played slots and sat for ages before being offered a drink.
After I have spent my $40 either tipping or I have lost it all, I walk off and find some of the free things to do in Vegas.
Favorite thing: Visit www.vegasresource.com
Click on "shopping cart"
On the next page that loads go to the left hand side, under "store departments" scroll down until you find, "coupons" (actually I think its right near the top)
click on that.
Here you will find a whole load of coupons to order for your trip, VIP passes to night Clubs (means you pay no entry fee), money off dinner etc etc. You only pay a shipping fee, but you will get loads of coupons mailed, the more you order the more your fee. About $10 will get you a load. Which means you get to go clubbing on a budget.
LOOK AT THE SIZE OF IT
Favorite thing: I wish I could show the inside of the casino, but sorry they will not let you take any pictures, (I managed to get this one but thats about as much as I dare). Most casino floors have a theme, linked to the theme of the hotel. For example New York, New York where I stayed the casino floor was ment to be like Central Park and the bars etc in the casino had fronts to them. So when you walked inside from the strip, it felt like you were back outside (weird, huh).
My advice is, look for the hotel you want to stay in and find their website because you'll be able to see pictures of the inside of the rooms and casino.
To be honest, after staying at the NYNY casino, which was nice, I really fail to see what you are paying for. YES its right on "The Strip" and YES the casino is very nice, and YES the rooms were clean.
But you can stay in any hotel and walk into the Casino, bars, restaurants of any the hotels.
