The hotel is really super, consisting of a central main building which houses the reception, bar, gift shop and restaurant and the rooms are semi-detached chalets set in amongst eucalyptus groves in the extended grounds. The electricity has been cut off accidentally by workmen, which also means there is no water coming out of the taps, but we are brought a bucket of warm water by the staff. The extended grounds are very natural, with a large flock of Crested Cranes, some Guinea Fowl and an Eagle eating its prey in the tree. Other, smaller birds flit in and out of the vegetation, and little geckos scamper on the ground. The staff don’t speak much English, and my French is almost non-existent, but we manage to order dinner and join the others in the bar in front of a portable fire. Evening can get very cold hare at this altitude (ca 2500m above sea level).
