Calais - gateway to Europe

by grets - last update: Dec 13, 2004

For most people coming from Britain, Calais is the destination port in France. Ferries run several times a day from Dover to Calais, and the Channel Tunnel will transport you under the water too.

We go to France, either Calais or Boulogne, two or three times a year to stock up on wine, beer, cider, cheese, paté, washing powder and all other goods which are considerably cheaper in France than they are in the UK.

We also take the opportunity to sample some of the local cuisine, I adore French food!

Nice quiet place. Great restaurant people. That salesman of Climbing Santas also did a good job here in Croatia.
