Mole National Park is one of Ghana’s main tourist attraction, and quite rightly so. Although it doesn’t have the same concentration of big game as its counterparts in Kenya or Tanzania, Mole offers some very good safari viewing. The main lure here is the elephant, for which Mole is famous, but there are other animals too, including 94 species of mammals.
The park is at 4000 square kms the largest game reserve in Ghana. It is mostly relatively flat savanna, broken only by a 250m high escarpment – at the top of which lies Mole Motel. |

Nemorino Fri Jan 9, 2009 09:07 UTC Great that there are viewing points for watching the comings & goings at the waterhole. It really does sound much better than watching it on TV! We went to a park like this in Swaziland once; not so rich in wildlife, but better service at the restaurant. | Ekahau Sat Jul 7, 2007 21:01 UTC wonderful Photos the story of the Mole Restaurant brings back wonderful memories as I grew up in West Africa (Sierra Leone). Good advise "Don’t get too close to the elephants!" | iandsmith Sun May 27, 2007 10:20 UTC Pleased you explained what a kob was, I'd never heard of them. Great pages. (I think you may have meant "lounges" in your "Things to see" tip) Cheers. | Trekki Fri Apr 13, 2007 08:06 UTC Marvellous wildlife and photos, Grete ! Ah, I would have been scared too with elephants running after me. |
