Tabacon Hot Springs

Very touristy, but worth a visit all the same.

Tabacon is a colonial style resort hotel, spa and restaurant built around the Tabacon Hot Springs.

The pools are fed by a magma-boiled underground river, and there are many small pools where you can escape the crowds. It has been kept mostly natural up-stream, and I would recommend sandals for walking as the paths are uneven and the bottom of some of the pools is quite rough.

Five large pools, with tiled slides, a hot waterfall which you can sit underneath, and swim-up bar where you can enjoy a beer or cocktail. The water ranges in temperature from 27 to 39 degrees C, and from personal experience I would recommend not going in the hottest one if you are sunburnt!

A very busy restaurant, lockers and showers complete the picture. You can pay extra to enjoy a massage or mud pack.

According to vulcanoligts, there is a risk of future hot avalances, such as the one in 1975.
