We stayed in a modern eyesore of a hotel on the shores of the lake just outside Puno. In the early morning we took a boatrip to visit several of the Uros Islands on the lake, where local Indians live in reed huts on reed islands, fishing from reed boats. Some of these people have never been to the mainland. We then took a hydrofoil across the lake from Puno in Peru, to Huatajata in Bolivia, stopping off at the historical Island of the Sun and the religious Copacabana on the way.
