Mathura is the city where yhe Lord Krishna is reputed to have been born some 3500 years ago. Today Mathura is an important pilgrimage place for followers of this popular reincarnation of Vishnu.

Cattle Market

On the road between Delhi and Agra, we came across this cattle market, and stopped to take some photographs. I was amazed at the number of cattle in one place, but also why? as they don't eat the meat because the cow is sacred.

Cos Minarets

Cos = 2.5 miles. These minarets were used to convey messages from Delhi to Bombay befoer the days of the telephone. There was a minaret every 2.5 miles on this highway which runs between Amritsar and Bombay; and the drums could be heard from one minaret to another. Messages could be passed from Delhi to Bombay in half an hour in this way.
