Lisbon thru the eyes of a little lettuce (that's the nickname we have,the lisboetas) is probably different than thru a visitors.
I was born right at the center of the city but I always lived on the outskirts, just four Km away from the "border" wich you have to agree, is very close.
Lisbon is one of the oldest capitals of Europe and therefor of the world and you'll see that there are alot of old buildings and references to other ages of our history, some wich from the period when we, along with our spanish neigbours, "ruled" the world.
At the same time Lisboa is one of the most ancient cities, it is aswell very modern, usualy more than people can imagine before they get there. The reason for this is probably the huge earthquake we had on the 19th century that killed over 60.000 people and destroyed most of the constructions existing.
