Soave is a small and picturesque medieval walled town located right off A4 between Verona and Vicenza. There is railroad access in nearby San Bonifacio. We used Soave as a base for exploring the Veneto region by car and rail.
The town is quite small and can be explored by foot in a half day or more. Above the town is Soave Castle, and surrounding the town are miles and miles of vineyards. This is where the famous Soave white wine is produced.
Pros and Cons
- Pros:small size, quiet, little traffic, away from the hustle and bustle of bigger cities. Right off A4
- Cons:After you've seen Soave, you will need to drive or take the train to other towns and sights.
- In a nutshell:Perfect for a quiet base-station for exploring nearby cities
