Getting TO/AROUND: I flew from Tel-Aviv to Vienna by Austrian Airlines. I changed planes and continued to Helsinki (Finland). On the way back I stayed 4 nights in Vienna, then continued to Budapest by train for 13 nights and returned to Vienna by train to catch the plane home. The return flight ticket TLV-VIE- HKI cost 766 US $ per person. (It would have been cheaper if I hadn't made the long stop in Vienna) Austrian Airlines is one of my favorite airlines. The connection to Finland is very good from Vienna. (This is the second time I used this route)The planes and the service is good. Their vegetarian meals are real good -highly recommended to become a vegetarian for their flights if not for all life.

Getting TO/AROUND: There are several trains between Vienna and Budapest daily from Wesbahnhof. (And other European cities!) The return ticket cost 38 E per person and the trip took less than 3 hours. Very comfortable and interesting journey!

Getting TO/AROUND: Take the airport but from Westbahnhof to the airport. It leaves every half an hour and costs only 6 E. The trip takes 30 minutes and the driver is a very nice guy.

Getting TO/AROUND: It is very fast and convenient to travel around Vienna by Metro. The stations are clean, have public toilets (there are public toilets everywhere in Vienna!) and you can see many people rushing around. The best thing to do is to get a Vienna card that will give you unlimited travel in public transport. This way you can just hop on and hop off whenever you like.

Getting TO/AROUND: We took a taxi twice in Vienna. The first time was when we arrived from the airport by CAT to the city terminal and wanted to get to the hotel. We could have done that with the metro, but didn't want to do so with our luggage. It was also nice to see the city for the first time comfortably sitting in Mercedes Benz. The second time was when we left the hotel and needed to get to Westbahnhof in order to catch a train to Budapest. Again the luggage was the reason for doing so. Taxis are easy to find in Vienna. There are taxi stations every where and I think you could catch one just by waving your hand on the street. The cost is like in any European city, affordable when you don't do it all the time.

Getting TO/AROUND: "72 hours Vienna Card" - that is what we bought on the following day of our arrival and it was a good deal. The Vienna ticket gives you unlimited travel on the public transport and reductions to museums etc. It definitely was worth it with all the travel and sight-seeing that we did in our 3 full days in Vienna. It cost 16.90 Euro We bought ours at the hotel. The card comes with a brochure that shows you all the places where you get reduction.

Getting TO/AROUND: You can see these horse carriages at Schonbrunn and the city center. This sure is travelling with style, but very expensive. Bargain the price before the trip.

Getting TO/AROUND: Don't do this! Don't rent a car in Vienna. The parking is difficult and expensive. Public transport is much more efficient and will cost less.
