This tip appears on my Vienna shopping tips, but I add it here too as I see it as a real tourist trap.
Name of Shop: Chocolate for everybody
Mozart Kugeln business (those who don't know, Mozart Kugeln are the most famous Viennese chocolate) is one of the biggest businesses in Vienna. These chocolates are sold everywhere and I think every tourist is convinced that he must buy some whether he likes chocolate or not. It is ok to buy them, I am not against that even though I don't personally like them much. But the question is where to buy. The fancy chocolate shops are expensive, the Duty Free shops at the the airport are very expensive.
The selection: Mozart Kugeln, Sissi chocolates, Sissi and Franz Josef chocolates and any other specialities. All in fancy boxes - the most you pay is for the box not for the amount of chocolate. So check out how many grams of chocolate each box contains.
What To Pay: More expensive than Mars bars
Directions: All over the city, all over the airport and even during Austrian airlines flights

At Least Do This: What to do? If you absolutely must buy Mozart Kugeln (in my opinion Mars bars taste better..) do it in a supermarket. You will be surprised at the prices. There is also a supermarket downstairs at the airport (go there before checking in) and the Kugeln are cheaper there than at the Duty Free.
