| | Cabo da Roca is a popular destination. It is 14 km from Colares. We stopped there after leaving Colares on the 27th of September and from there we contined to Cascais and finally back to Lisbon where we were to spent three more days before flying home. We arrived around 9.00AM and were the only people there but by the time we left there were several tourist buses already. Capo da Roca is the most western point in the continent of Europe. There is a light house, tourismo, souvenir shop (expensive!) and a cafe. The views to the sea are fantastic. It is great to watch the sea and see the waves hitting the rocks. |
| | A cross at the cape carries an inscription by Luis Camoes: "Here... where the land ends, and the sea begins." |

unaS Mon Mar 9, 2009 15:02 UTC Great photos! Do you know if there is public transportation between Cabo da Roca and Lisboa? | Raimix Sat Nov 4, 2006 16:12 UTC Good page! Would like to visit any sharp end of Europe" ;) In Lithuania we hace center of Europe, about 30 kilometres from Vilnius. I wonder is this place far away from Lisbon... | Bwana_Brown Wed Oct 20, 2004 01:35 UTC Bambino36 and I have been discussing this. Slea Head in Ireland is the most westerly (some say) and Cabo Roca most westerly of the continental part of Europe!! Nice pics! | bambino36 Sun Oct 17, 2004 19:54 UTC Yup... never been there either. Anyway I used to pass westerly on the part you say is what begins :) |
